ABOUT

My grandfather gave me my first camera when I was very young.  It had single-use flashbulbs and produced square photos.  This camera provided me with my first developed photos: footprints, from my dog, in the snow.  I have been in love with photography ever since.  I have documented the lives of my family and friends incessantly for many years now, whether it has been taking photos during Christmas dinner or filming a rendition of “Romeo and Juliet” for a high school English class.  I have always had a camera close at hand.

Originally from Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, I moved to Vancouver in 2004 to attend Vancouver Film School.  It was there that my love for photography really took hold.  I attended the Foundation program at VFS and was involved in a lens-based media class.  Our assignments involved going out to take pictures of the lower-mainland.  We could rent cameras from the school whenever we wanted, a real bonus.  I was a newcomer to a big city with one mission: to explore it.

I graduated from VFS’ Film Production program with honours in 2006.  I have since been working in Vancouver’s film industry.  My love for photography has now become both a hobby and a career, for which I am very fortunate.  I have done a great deal of traveling through Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and North America, and have had some amazing photographic luck (and some pretty phenomenal experiences) as a result.  Although I fell in love with Africa, I can’t wait to see what the rest of the world has to offer!
